Qualcomm anounced 2nd Gen Ultrasonic In-Display-Fingerprint Sensor
January 12, 2021
Qualcomm launched a new 3D Sonic Sensor !!
Today i.e, 12th January 2021 Qualcomm has launched its new In-Display Fingerprint Technology.
This new technology will be used in flagship phones.
Qualcomm says that the scanning will be fast and reliable and it can also identify prints if the finger is wet in this 2nd Generation Ultrasonic In-Display Fingerprint Sensor.
Qualcomm has named it Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor.
The Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor uses ultrasonic waves to scan 3D features like ridges, valleys of the user for an accurate image.
The 2nd Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor can also detect the flow of blood in the finger which prevents hackers from unlocking a device from a photo or a mold.
It also monitors heart rate when you touch the fingerprint sensor.
Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor is thin at about 2mm.
The 1st Generation Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor was used in many flagship phones such as Samsung Galaxy S10, Note 10, S20, and Note 20 series.
The Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor will be available in new sizes and it is 50% fast and 77% larger as compared to the 1st Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor.
1st Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor was about 4 x 9mm (36mm2) whereas 2nd Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor is about 8 x 8mm (64mm2) which is 77% larger than 1st Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor.
The new sensor will provide a larger area for the user to place his/her's finger and that will allow Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor to gather 1.7x more biometric data.
The more the biometric data faster to unlock the phone.
The 2nd Gen Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor is 50% faster as compared to the 1st Gen
Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor.
Soon this sensor will be seen in the Samsung S21 series.
